Maldonado Named Top Defensive Catcher in FSL

Martin Maldonado

All Star Group would like to congratulate client Martin Maldonado for being named the Florida State League's Top Defensive catcher in Baseball America's annual Best Tools survey. Baseball America surveyed dozens of managers, coaches and scouts to determine which players have the top skills in numerous categories.

Maldonado, a Naguabo, Puerto Rico native, has been the everyday catcher for the first-place Brevard County Manatees this season, leading a pitching staff that features many of the Brewers' top prospects. Maldonado also had a brief seven game stint with the Brewers' Triple-A affiliate earlier in the year where he hit .333/.350/.389 in eighteen at-bats.

Maldonado will be attending the Brewers fall instructional league next month, after which he will be playing Winter Ball in Puerto Rico with the Mayaguez Indians.
