Steven Baron Comes to Terms With Mariners

Star Group is happy to announce that it has reached an agreement with the
Seattle Mariners on a contract for supplemental first rounder Steven Baron.
Steven promptly signed his first pro contract with the Mariners and will be flying
out today to Seattle for his physical. Once completed, Baron will report to the
Pulaski Mariners of the Appalachian League.
Baron,
the thirty-third (33) overall pick in the draft will receive a $980,000.00 signing
bonus, which is $44,000.00 above the Commissioner's recommended slot. Additionally,
Steven will receive $200,000.00 under the Major League Baseball College Scholarship
plan. Steven had signed to attend Duke. Lastly, Steven will
receive non-roster invitations to Major League Spring training in 2010 and 2011.
The
contract was negotiated by ASG's Francis Marquez.
