All Star Group Welcomes Pedro Strop

Pedro Strop and ASG's Hugo Catrain

All Star Group would like to announce the signing of Texas Rangers' relief prospect Pedro Strop to a full representation agreement. Strop comes to ASG after signing a free-agent contract with the Rangers. Strop had previously been a member of the Colorado Rockies' organization. Prior to the 2008 season, Baseball America ranked Strop as the ninth top prospect in the Rockies' organization.

Pedro spent most of 2008 on the disabled list after suffering an injury in the first month of the season. At the time of his injury STrop had pitched in seven games with the Rockies' Double-A affiliate, the Tulsa Drillers, with whom he pitched seven games, all in relief.

The previous year Strop pitched in forty-eight games with the Modesto Nuts of the California League, striking out seventy-five batters in fifty-four innings and rendering opposing hitters to a .215 batting average against.

Pedro will be in major league spring training with the opportunity to make the Rangers' opening day bullpen.
