All
Star Group client Angel Morales was named the eigth top prospect in
the rookie level Appalachian League today by Baseball America. It marks the second
time in as many seasons that Morales garners such recognition. In 2007 Baseball
America ranked him as the twentieth top prospect in the Gulf Coast League.
A
third round draft pick by the Minnesota Twins in 2007, Morales displayed the tools
that had many comparing him to Carlos Beltran before the '07 draft. Playing with
the Elizabethton Twins, Morales hit .300 with a league leading fifteen homeruns.
Morales also has one of the strongest arms in the Twins's organization, and is
a plus runner and defender, capable of playing all three outfield positions.
Morales
will be playing in the Puerto Rico Baseball League this winter with the
Ponce Lions.
