Luis Montanez to Make Big League Debut

All Star Group is thrilled to announce that the Balimore Orioles have purchased the contract of client Luis Montanez. Luis will be in uniform for the Orioles tonight when they face the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. It will mark the first time that Luis is active at the Major League level since being drafted as the third overall pick in the 2000 amateur draft.

The callup comes off the heals of what many describe as the best offensive season of any minor leaguer this year. Before his promotion Montanez ranked first in the Double-A Eastern League in batting average (.335), hits (151), homeruns (26), RBI (97), slugging percentage (.601), runs (90) and total bases (271). Earlier in the year Montanez had been named a starter for the Eastern League all star game.
